Thirsty Writer, Libations Marketer
Brandy Rand has over 16 years marketing and management experience in the beverage alcohol industry. She has worked on dozens of brands at Allied Domecq Spirits & Wines, Bacardi USA, William Grant & Sons, and Berkshire Mountain Distillers. Brandy is the U.S. President at The IWSR, an international beverage alcohol research firm. Previously, she served as the Chief Marketing Officer of Richer Pour Wine Company, a purveyor of fine tap wine. In 2013, she co-founded Thirst Boston, a festival celebrating drink culture. Brandy has also consulted on marketing and events strategy for dozens of nationally recognized brands in music, film, and media.
With her knowledge of the food and drink industry, consumer insights, and passion for uncovering trends, she’s also known as an accomplished writer and educator. Brandy is a regular contributor on food and drink to Northshore Magazine, and has written for Boston Common Magazine, Beverage Media, Nightclub & Bar, Where to Eat & Drink, The Daily Meal, N Magazine and Boston Magazine. She was the Editor and Writer of the 2012 Cheers On-Premise BARometer Handbook for the Beverage Information Group. Forever curious, she teaches classes on everything from tequila to taste science. Her audience has included both consumers and the beverage trade on topics like “Women & Whiskey” and “How the Spirits Industry Works.” As an industry professional, Brandy has received BarSmarts Wired and TIPS certification, is a member of the prestigious Les Dames d’Escoffier, a worldwide philanthropic society of professional women leaders in the fields of food, fine beverages, and hospitality.
Brandy lives in the Boston area and is a graduate of Tufts University. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Literature and Creative Writing at Harvard. In her spare time she teaches spinning and looks for new recipes to cook. She adores wine, Cognac, a proper Negroni, Japanese whisky, a good lager, and bubbles.
